Care Package for Yourself – Tip #158

I am often packaging up birthday presents, care packages, wedding gifts, etc.   I don’t do any travelling that takes me for any extended period time away from my family but I am separated from my husband for months at a time so why don’t I get a care package just because I am the one that stays at home doing the house work, errands, child care, lunches, etc.?  This got me thinking about all of the people that are at home waiting for their loved ones, making sure they have somewhere special to come home to, trying to keep a handle on everything.  Why don’t we all get a package?  Why don’t we get a package for those days when you have had enough of going it alone, coming home to a house without everyone in it, not being able to share with the one person who gets it, the car breaks down, you have to grocery shop on a day when everyone on the planet seems to have chosen to as well, you get an unexpected or unwanted bill, or just when you have had enough of the waiting and worrying?

Make a care package for yourself, put it away for a day when life has overwhelmed you and then get it out and treat yourself as only you know how!  You are assured to like it – you made it!  Let go of any thoughts that are remotely like…  “I don’t deserve this…, I shouldn’t be doing this…, How selfish…, I should have put this money towards…”  they aren’t true.

If you would also like to give packages to soldiers who would not otherwise get one, go to http://www.anysoldier.com and send a care package. They are a wonderful non-profit organization that support soldiers on deployments.

If guilt over pampering just yourself is an issue (but you are short on time or energy)…  you can also send a hand decorated package filled with things your loved one will enjoy, a great comany for this is – http://www.missyourvoice.net.  They have a theme package for just about every occassion you can think of!

Your Package tips:

* Face masks

* Bubble bath soaps

* Chocolate, cookies or some sweet treat

* Candles

* A great magazine or book

* New pjs or cozzy socks

* A card to yourself listing off some of your greatest accomplishments

* Favourite DVD or CD

* A gift certificate for a pedicure or some other spa treat

* Put in anything that is assured to make you feel relaxed or put a smile on your face

** You could also do this with a friend, sister or child and then agree on a day to open it together
