Megan’s Recommendation – “Some Things Are Scary” by Florence Parry Hiede
Whether you are in a military family or not, it is important to talk (as a family) about your fears. Being a part of a military family means that you will all have additional fears from things like – ‘What if he/she is deployed?’, ‘What will happen if they go away for a long time?’, ‘ Will they still love me and remember me while they are away?’, etc.
This is great book that also adds a humourous twist to being fearful of things. Pages include things like “Having your best friend move away is scary.” or “Brushing your teeth with something you thought was toothpaste is gross but it isn’t is scary. Telling a lie is scary.”
