Stress – Tip #68

When your family member or friend returns from a deployment it can be the most difficult and stressful part of the deployment.  Stress is a part of everyone’s life.  It is how we are handle stress that is very different.  You have each experienced different things and changed, in fact, nothing has stood still.  It will be important that you try to reduce your stress, maintain a sense of hopefulness and create an environment where everyone can have an opportunity to feel heard.

Some Tips to Reduce Stress:

* Have an organized home that it is fairly clutter free (I feel hypocritical even writing that!)

* Everyone in the house has a space they consider their own

* Have a schedule/calendar of appointments and events happening – both long and short term

* Schedule time in your day to relax together and talk

* Prioritize your tasks into must do, want to do, do if there is time

* Create a bedroom that is clutter free, comfortable, quiet and can be appropriately darkened
